The Mad Housers - Donations and Merchandise
Shelters aren't built out of good intentions alone! The Mad Housers is an all-volunteer organization, so even a small donation goes a long way towards helping someone have a warm, safe place.
Monetary Donations
Monetary donations can either be sent to our mailing address or made online via Paypal.
For reference, a hut costs about $450 with all new materials, and a Low Rider runs about $350. With donated and reused materials, we can drop those costs even further, of course. Every bit counts!

Materials Donations
The Mad Housers will gladly accept donations of materials. Always on our wish list:
- 2x4s
- Plywood, 3/8"-3/4" thickness
- 1/2" sheet insulation
- Nails - 16, 8 and 6 penny.
- Wood/drywall screws - 3" and 1.5"
- Roll roofing, roofing tacks
- Doors and hinges (solid core doors only, please)
- Hammers, saws, tape measures, string lines, and other carpentry tools
- Firewood
- Tents
- Caulking materials
- Industrial garbage bags
- Used Cell phones - no plan needed, they just need to hold a charge
Stuff we can't use
There are many things that we'd love to take, but our warehouse space is tiny. Basically, if we don't have a space for it, we probably can't make more space for it. Here are some charities that may accept items we cannot:- Blankets, sleeping bags, clothes, flashlights and shoes - Salvation Army
- Shingles, tin roofing, siding, windows, countertops, doorknobs, and cabinetry - Habitat for Humanity
- Food - Atlanta Community Food Bank
- Furniture, cookware - Atlanta Furniture Bank
Remember: your donations, whether material or money, are tax-deductable. Please include your address with any donation for your receipt.
